Description
Silverfish are wingless, flat insects with two antennae and three bristles on a carrot-shaped body. They get their name from their light grey and blue appearance, as well as their fish-like movements. This also leads to the nickname “carpet sharks.” Silverfish cannot fly and will not jump. This makes it relatively easy to catch and kill them, assuming you can find them. Silverfish are not dangerous, as they do not bite or sting. They do, however, shed their skin. This can quickly turn to dust and impact the air quality in your home.
